There are many causes of neck pain, stress from poor posture and emotional and psychological tension, arthritis, road traffic accidents and sports injuries.
Many TMJ-related symptoms are caused by the effects of physical stress on the structures around the joint. These structures include:
- Cartilage disk at the joint
- Muscles of the jaw, face, and neck
- Nearby ligaments, blood vessels, and nerves
Dysfunction in the neck can create jaw (TMJ) pain and headaches, which can be acute or chronic. This may lead to facial pain, headaches, tinnitus, vertigo or a clicky jaw.
When you come for treatment at our physiotherapy clinic in Cambridge first one of our physiotherapists will take a full history.
